Brandon M. Welch, MS, PhD is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Informatics. Dr. Welch uses his graduate training in human genetics and biomedical informatics to develop innovative and user-friendly health IT solutions for personalized medicine. During his PhD, he defined and developed a scalable informatics architecture for clinical decision support leveraging whole genome sequence data. His work experience includes serving as a fellow for the Personalized Health Care Initiative at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Vice President of Innovation for InformedDNA, a nationwide telegenetics company, and started several companies. He founded Doxy.me, a simple, free, and award-winning telemedicine solution now used by over 30,000 healthcare providers nationwide. He is a K award recipient from the National Cancer Institute which he is using to develop an online social network called ItRunsInMyFamily.com, which helps families to share health information to create a family health history.
