In an Uncertain Age, Can Concierge Medicine Save U.S. Primary Care?

For an increasing number of primary care physicians frustrated by today’s healthcare environment, concierge, or membership, medicine offers a practical yet transformative solution. In this informative and interactive session led by Specialdocs CEO Terry Bauer, physicians challenged by diminishing reimbursements and the increasing demands of practice management will learn how the concierge practice model provides a way to remain independent and sustain a thriving practice long term.

This alternative practice model has grown exponentially from its inception in the 1990s with two physicians to more than 10,000 concierge medicine practices today, and is frequently considered one of the major ways primary care can survive in the US. Mounting evidence shows the benefits of this unique, patient-centered approach in significantly strengthening the physician-patient relationship, enabling a focus on wellness and preventative medicine, enhancing outcomes and reducing the overall cost of care.

Bauer will explore the impact of membership medicine on physicians, their patients and American healthcare, analyze the costs for independent physicians who remain in a traditional model versus a concierge practice, and identify key factors that determine a successful transition to concierge medicine. He will address why even risk-averse physicians need not let fear of change deter them from considering the transformative alternative model of concierge medicine.
