Retirement Not Ret-irony! Strategies and Skills to Get Retired and to Stay Successfully Retired

Retiring is easy; one day you just stop working.  However, staying successfully retired means living the next chapter of your life on your terms.  Financially, it means having dependable, reliable and robust income sources to cover any of your fixed expenses (we call this your Life) and enough other income to fund the things, travel, causes and people you want to benefit (we call this your Lifestyle).  According to Met Life, the average couple that retires at age 62 can expect to have at least one spouse alive at age 92.  That is 30+ years of drawing from your retirement accounts and your financial plan. Are you ready for this; do you have a plan to get and stay Successfully Retired?

In this discussion, you will learn:

  • Tools to assess when you should retire. Are you running from something or toward something?
  • How much do you need for your lifestyle and financial goals?
  • Where should you be relative to your retirement goals?
  • Ok, I agree I need to save/invest more money. What is the “best” way?
  • What kind of returns should I expect?
  • Tax-free vs tax-deferred investment.
  • Protect what you have first. Make sure you have adequately planned for unexpected contingencies that could have large negative effects on your savings or to your family.
